How To Deliver Our

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Here's the situation:

I am working on a non-profit organization named "Community Partners" who's mission is to make it easier for people to get more involved in their community. There are many things we'd like to do with this... but for now can only provide free/sponsored message boards to local communities. This includes towns, sections of towns, as well as subdivisions.
Website: ([inactive link removed])

A key component to making this work is participation/support from local businesses. We hope to businesses in each town to sign up.... and give them the incentive to do so by providing them with a package of "value" in return for their support.

The "value" which can be provided at this moment is:

1.) Acknowledgement of support in the form of a "supporter logo" that can be used on their website, marketing materials and in ads;

2.) Online coupons system which allows them to post multiple offers (www.communitycoupons.org)

This could also be viewed as a "do-good" marketing program. Though this is a non-profit, there is a for-profit aspect to it which manages the coupon site and pays for local representatives in each area.

Based on this the question is: how do we deliver our core market to the message and convince businesses to get on board? Would businesses, or the community, expect more from us then we are offering and how do we avoid that?

Thanks in advance

    Great idea, before you start pitching to business I suggest you flesh out the site a bit more with additional information. It would be beneficial to also get some hit rates for at least a sample town so you can claim a modicon of success.

    I think the concept could be a good one, but as with many things the proof is in the execution.

    I agree with two previous comments. I like the idea, my Mom is a realtor and I could have recommend it to her. But I don't know anything about the program, and writing a letter to info@ it just too time consuming and no a lot of people will do it.

    Thanks for the comments so far.

    I'll work to clarify the message on the main page and provide some detail as to "what it includes" for business partners.

    It really is a good idea, but I think you have the right idea yourself:

    "1.) Acknowledgement of support in the form of a "supporter logo" that can be used on their website, marketing materials and in ads;

    2.) Online coupons system which allows them to post multiple offers (www.communitycoupons.org)"

    The only other thing I would suggest is a directory of services for these local businesses so people can find them easily and maybe work into that a TRUST LOGO, so if people in the community say they recommend a particualar supplier they get the TRUST LOGO next to their listing! You might even be able to charge a little for the listing to create a revenue stream, or offer a free basic listing but add a charge for larger descriptions of service and use of their logo etc!

    Keep up the good work :-)
