Promotional Idea To Attract Cutomers To Stand At A

Posted byJaneon 300 Points
Hello,

I am working with a Pan-Asian restaurant chain who specialise in fast, fresh east Asian food. We are attending a food festival and I am looking for an idea to attract tasters to our stand to taste the food and collect email addresses. Tastings are not free.

At last years event we ran a competition for visitors to guess the dishes ingredients which went down well as the dishes are fantastic and the tasters really connected with the food and concept.

I'd like a new idea for this year! I was thinking of maybe a 'guess the dishes country or origin' but I think we should really be giving this info in the menu anyway to help visitors to choose a dish? Our dishes are from Vietnam, Japan, Malayasia, Singapore, etc.

Any suggestions? Please respond with ideas TODAY!!!

    Guess:
    * Which dish can be prepared fastest
    * Which dish is historically oldest (if you know)
    * Which dish contains a specific ingredient
    * Which dish has the fewest/most ingredients

Are the people that attend the same as last year's people?

I think your ingredient idea was a winner and worked well so I would stick with it. Expecially if there will be many new people. If at least half the people will be different I would stick with the guess the ingredient.

If most of the attendees will be the same perhaps a new idea would be good idea.

How about match the countries' flags to the dishes. This may be easy for those who know the countries well though.

I do not think you need to list the country of orgin if you give titles and ingredients. The people will be more concerned with the ingredients. In that case, guessing the country of orgin could be fun.

Do people when a prize if they guess right? Perhaps a 2 for 1 coupon at the restraunt. Are you trying to drive people to the restraunts at a later date? Give them a reason to visit.

    Hope this helps,

How about an origin of noodle theme. Asia has so many types of noodles - you could tell stories about the noodle while you cook and then offer it up for taste. It could be like an informative storytime live demonstration deal.

How about asking them for email addresses so you can send them a recipe or two?

或they could enter to win (depending on your budget) either:
    - dinner for two
    - $50 gift certificate
    - trip to one of the countries of origin?

To get people to your booth, I would suggest live cooking demonstrations, or a mix and match taste test where participants create their own meal by using different sauces on their noodles? Perhaps a blind taste test, and the participant would literally be blindfolded and guess which of 3 dishes they were eating? Winners could recieve a gift certificate or other small giveaway.

I'd also say the ingredient idea works fabulously as it gets people involved in your food. You might try a twist to this such as guess by smell or real blind taste testing (with a blindfold). You might even try a comparison competition - two dishes side by side, which has the XXX ingredient. That way people can test to see if they are real gourmets.
