Name For Swimwear Line For The Sexy Yet Classy Gal

Posted byjessicacoupons87on 250 Points
I have been working on this swimsuit line for almost a year and I have yet to think of a name.

The line is geared toward women between the ages of 18-30 that have curves in all the right places and don't mind showing them off, tastefully of course. Anywho the names I have come up with are NearNakedSwim and Beachlust. I'm not really committed to either but I'd love to use the words Muse or Noire in the name

Thanks all for your help. You guys are great.

You have an interesting tightrope to walk. Too sexy and it's not classy. Too classy and it's not so sexy. The solution may be to segment the market into "classy" and "sexy," and come up with a clear positioning (and name/tagline) for each one. Otherwise you may confuse your target audience.

You might also want to define your target audience more narrowly, so you can really focus on the bull's-eye. The names you've come up with are more sexy than classy. ("Naked" and "lust" are not particularly classy, right?)

If this were my project, I would interview 12-15 women in the target audience and see how they want to feel in a bathing suit, and what words they use to describe that feeling. Then based on what they say I'd try to pick a name that plays to what they want. Our guesses are not particularly relevant without that kind of input. Most of us are not "women between the ages of 18-30 that have curves in all the right places and don't mind showing them off."

Besides, I've learned in the women's intimate apparel industry that most women are very sensitive to their body shapes and critical of their own perceived "imperfections." You have to be very careful promising or suggesting "sexy" in a bathing suit, because it suggests showing off curves that women may not be so eager to show off. If a woman doesn't think she's sexy already, promising her a bathing suit that smacks of "sexy" could be a turn-off/threatening.

If you want to go for sexy, then names like "Allure," "Tease," and "Flaunt It" would work.

If you want classy, then "Riviera," "Yachtware," and "Country Club" would probably be better.
