Product Customization Tool For Web Site

We have a client looking for a feature on their Web site that allows the user to "build your own" of their product--something that allows site user to see a product displayed and select colors and a few other accessories. Upon selecting the new options, the product will be configured to the new specs and display in the color/accessory options selected. Has anyone worked with an interactive tool similar to this, and if so, can you please direct us to a 3rd party app. or developer you used? Thanks in advance for recommendations!

    I am not familiar with any application that does this, but it sound like you should be able to do this in Flash.
