norquestgives a very good answer for a management action plan. But, to boil it down to the very basics, your action plan should include the three W's:

• Waction needs to be done?


• Who is responsible for doing it?


• When are they going to complete it?

Specifically, for ISO9000, typically what a management action plan involves is that a firm has come into your facility and audited your quality system. During the audit, they identified issues. The response to this firm and the path to gain ISO9001 registration is to put together a management action plan to remedy the issues. So, the plan starts with the issues, management then brainstorms how to correct the issues - What to do, who's going to do it, and by when. Asnorquestmentioned, the plan may include a time line - that's a list of the actions in rows and columns representing the time - week end dates, month end dates - which ever apply. Beside each action, you draw a bar which starts in the column for the date of the start of the action and ends in the column for the date the action is scheduled to end.
