Swot Analysis To A Bank

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
The chairman of a bank stated that (i) the short term impact of euro adoption will produce downward pressure on profits. (ii) Costs will be incurred (iii) certain foreign exchange revenue streams will necessarily be foregone and he expects the euro adoption will result in a contraction of spreads in the credit market.
I have to prepare a SWOT analysis that this bank will be facing within a post euro adoption scenario. This bank has 35% market share and is locally owned.

SWOT analysis is not Research/Metrics - it is a strategic tool, but misclassification aside, what help are you looking for specifically? Or is this a college question/problem? If you are looking for us to do the SWOT, you have far little information.

    References to SWOT:

For more on building strategies based on SWOT, on my website, there's a link to "Marketing" and you will find in the Strategic section a write-up on SWOT. You can get to my website by clicking on my name above to get to my profile and there you find the URL for my website.

If you include a more specific question, we can help you more specifically. Otherwise, all we can do is point you in some general directions.

    I hope this helps.

There's not a lot of data to go on here. Do you have any similar cases to draw on? More information? The above mentions i, ii, and iii seem to be threats. 35% share seems like a strength. Look at this link:

    https://www.businessballs.com/swotanalysisfreetemplate.htm

If you look at the template, there are suggestions of what could be strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. If you have no more information than you presented so far, no similar cases, no text information concerning banks and the adoption of the Euro, then you will have to go through each potential SWOT clue in this template and decide how that would apply to the situation. For instance, under "Strengths," the first one is: Advantages of proposition. How might this bank have an advantage in terms of "value propositions?" A value proposition is how customers derive benefit from the bank's products and services. So, how is having local ownership for the bank, for instance, beneficial to a customer? You might hypothesize that if a business had a cash flow issue, they might be able to have fast turn-around on line of credit loans because the owner personally knows the business and owner. This is the process to come up with the SWOT in these college cases. The idea is to present the thought process - use the analysis tools - not come up with the right answer.
