I was in the design industry for 7 years and was responsible for entering these competitions. Due to the visual impact of the profession there are probably more competitions available for designers of any specialty area than any other industry.

Below are just a few, you should be limited only by your time to fill out all the paperwork and your money for competion fees and photography etc., but it can be well worth it in the public relations opportunities should you win an award of any type.

Same with the books, they are always looking for projects and if your work is good and they use you they will always be contacting you.
