What Are The Adv/disadv Of Purchasing Add. Urls?

Looking into purchasing an additional URL for our client's web site. We have all of our bases covered as far as the current URL (misspellings, etc). A new URL has come up for sale that is close, and I'm working to figure out if it's worth if for our client. Anyone have any ideas/research available on this topic?

    Hi James,

    Note: I am talking about a .com domain, not any of the other of the plethora of .whatevers now available.

    Since .com URL registrations only cost $8.95 or less and depending on how close the available name is to the currently registered name, my argument would be why would not do it?

    For $8.95 by the time you take all the time you put into the decision-making process of whether to do it or not , you could have it registered and move onto something more important.
